I agree, it is very nice to see someone that makes an enourmous amount realize that things must change in these times. He is one of the few people in the public eye that seem to realize that he can survive on 10 million just as easily as he can on 12 or whatever he had, unlike that weasel Selig. I just wish all the CEOs and athletes making millions while the people making them that money get laid off would follow his great example. I think Obama should make it so that every person making over 10 million while their company is laying people off should be required to take a pay cut or take all the money after the initial 10 million. Think of how many jobs this would save! 3 million dollars can employ 30 people at $100,000 a year, or 60 at $50,000! Right now, people would kill for a job like that. Props to Goodell for being a great role model in a tough time.

  • Steve Lavey blogged Good Leadership By NFL's Roger Goodell
Many times leadership requires that the CEO lead by example -- well, Roger Goodell has done that by taking a 20 percent pay cut because of the reeling economy. The league said Wednesday it has also dropped 169 jobs as a result of buyouts, layoffs and other staff reductions, representing 15 percent of the league staff . Now, we don't want you to feel too bad for ole' Roger, who voluntarily took a c...

  • Steve Lavey blogged Michigan gets 12th-ranked Recruiting Class
Whew !  Signing day has come and CBS College Sports Network's recruiting analyst Tom Lemming puts Michigan at No. 12 overall. Bill Kurelic, ESPN's recruiting analyst for the Midwest, said Michigan is his No. 10 team, and Rivals.com ranked the Wolverines seventh as of Tuesday. "This has been a very successful year for Rich Rodriguez," Lemming said. "Now that he's got his feet wet as the Michig...

  • Steve Lavey blogged USA Should Host World Cup
I think the USA should get behind a concerted bid to host the World Cup.  Today is was announced that the United States Soccer Federation has joined 11 other nations to officially submit a bid to play host to either the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup, U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati announced on Monday.Other bidders include Mexico, England, Russia, Spain/Portugal and Netherlands/Belgium from ...

  • Steve Lavey blogged Hot New Ride for Edgerrin
I just got wind of this story and it just goes to show how big NFL guys think the Super Bowl really is.  Edgerrin James of the Arizona Cards figured he needed some wheels for Super Bowl week to cruise around Tampa. Most people would go out and rent a car but not EJ -- The running back special ordered a brand new Lamborghini, silver exterior with crushed red velvet interior, the color of his ...

  • Steve Lavey blogged Michigan Gets New Defensive Coordinator
Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez planned to search for his defensive coordinator to replace Scott Shafer, who resigned in early December.  Apparently it didn’t require much effort.  New U-M defensive coordinator Greg Robinson said Saturday before U-M’s basketball game that he sought out Rodriguez.  The Detroit Free Press writes: “I told him, I’d like to work fo...

It is officially spring football season.. Any predictions for U o f M this year?

  3. Respond Diego Gutierrez said 1 year ago

Well, the Fire is just putting together a team to win now.  If it isnt this year, I don't know when it will be.  Blanco and McBride will be gone, CJ Brown most likely gone, and they will need to find new leadership for this club.  I hope they do well, but the biggest thing is the dressing room...they need good chemestry and a good lockerroom, which will be hard to manage at times.  Let's wait and see.

    Hey Steve,

Great game this weekend! Just remember- Northwestern and Michigan don't play next year so you'll have plenty of time to watch re-runs!

aha...so I see you dropped Chad Ocho Cinco from your fantasy team...does that mean you also dropped Chad Johnson? or have the multiple personalities split into different people?

I will, in fact, not be cheering for Rich Rodriguez. You can pretty much count on the entire state of WV and all students and alum of WVU hatin' on your man. Sorry, but facts is facts. :)
